It’s quite simple actually, Mr. Beardman is just your average Joe metalhead who has devoted his life and leisure to metal music, a metalhead without borders if you will. Metal music has been close to my heart for over 20 years know and it will remain there until the day I drop dead. My preferred genres of choice are in the melodic/symphonic side of metal, death metal, black metal etc. but I’m no stranger to the other ones either so don’t let that scare you away if you want your music to be valuated by me=).
This leisure time “hobby” of mine hasn’t been a hobby for long, it comes full four years this summer since I started reviewing. I’m not a certified journalist of any kind, I’m only an amateur but the love for music drives me on. For long I was meddling with the idea to start writing my thoughts on somewhere but I lacked both the courage and a suitable platform. Now I do have them both =).
But I’m also a devoted fan of metal music and that ideal somewhat defines my approach of reviewing music. As I’m not a musician myself, I value each and everyone’s effort putting their visions into reality and I do not find it very productive nor respecful to blast someone’s effort to oblivion, they might not meet my requirements for a good music but nevertheless I do try to retain some decency and politeness, after all, they have had the guts to put their efforts public, exposing themselves to very harsh feedback. Now I can’t force myself to like something that I don’t put what I can do, is to atleast state my reasons why the music didn’t resonate with me, with professional manner.
